Oh, heavens yes.
I lost my arm when I was very young, and it took some time to get a hold of a prosthesis— if you’ll excuse the turn of phrase.
In the time the accident and receiving my arm, I’d swing between being 100% all right with my arm being missing, being convinced it was still attached to me to the point I’d still try to retrieve things with it, or I would lie in bed crying in pain.
Once my prosthesis arrived, however, those symptoms certainly did begin to improve— nowadays, it feels more as though my arm is numb 24/7… I do relapse a little if I remove it for an extended period of time, however.
